Creating a future with circular furniture

At iOTA, we are dedicated to educating businesses and individuals alike about the numerous benefits of sustainable production and circular furniture. But what exactly is circular furniture, and why should it matter to you? Circular furniture represents a shift in the way we approach furniture manufacturing, consumption, and disposal. Instead of the "take-make-dispose" model, circular furniture operates on the principles of sustainability and recycling in a way that prolongs the life of a material.

One of the key elements of our approach to sustainability is our unwavering commitment to partnering with manufacturers who share our passion for the environment. We understand that true sustainability extends beyond marketing jargon and greenwashing. It's about forging genuine relationships with manufacturers who hold the relevant environmental accreditations and are equally committed to producing high-quality, sustainable furniture.

One of the cornerstones of our sustainable furniture line is the use of unique, responsibly sourced materials. We believe that innovation and sustainability can go hand in hand. That's why we proudly incorporate materials like bamboo, hemp, recycled plastics, recycled felt, cork, rebar, and even repurposed fishing nets into our designs through our suppliers products. These materials not only reduce the environmental impact but also add a unique touch to our furniture pieces.

Cork, often overlooked, is a fantastic sustainable material. It's harvested from the bark of cork oak trees, a process that doesn't harm the tree and allows for regrowth. Rebar, which is typically discarded as scrap, finds a new purpose in our designs, reducing the need for virgin steel production. And as for those discarded fishing nets that pose a grave threat to marine life, we transform them into stylish and sustainable furniture components.

To learn more about just some of the ways we look to be truly sustainable through our suppliers and furnishings, take a look at our Plastic `Whale by Vepa partnership. We are delighted to be an exclusive partner for Northamptonshire and Milton Keynes and with this collaboration we are able to proivde businesses across the counties with high-end circular furniture made from PET bottles fished out of the Amsterdamn canals. The quality and design are unrivaled and the benefit to the environment is impressive.

But we can't bring about this change alone; we need your help. Whilst it’s tempting to head to the ‘cheaper’ shops for ease, the longevity and quality of sustainable materials is unrivaled. There’s a reason why recycled materials are able to be repurposed, they’re long lasting products! So with your next renovation, redesign or even just a furniture refresh, try to be sustainable with your choices as your decision making will leave a legacy.
